Yummy Eats, Pool Time, 11 Mile Run Prep.

It’s been a pretty nice day.  Not as awesome as I’m anticipating tomorrow to be, but I’ll get to that later.

This morning I woke up without an alarm around 8:30 and headed downstairs.  I took my time doing morning things before finally putting together a really delicious breakfast.

Two egg white and one whole egg omelet with orange and yellow peppers, spinach, and sun-dried tomatoes with half a sliced avocado, three slices of turkey bacon, and strawberries.  One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a while!

I proceeded to just relax around the house for a little bit longer before popping in the P90x Yoga DVD.  Today is a rest day on my schedule but I thought I’d do some yoga for my muscles.  Well, I did about 10 minutes before deciding that I wasn’t feeling it and just wanted to go to the pool. But it had been a couple of hours since breakfast, and I was hungry again.  Shocker.

So lunch was a blueberry protein pancake made with Vega vanilla protein powder.

Then it was pool time!  As most everyone already knows, today was a scorcher.  My car said the temperature was 98.  Yikes.

I stayed out there for two hours, reading my book and getting in the pool just about every 20 minutes or so because I was dripping in sweat just laying there!  When I left I was seriously craving something super cold and refreshing, so obviously I knew what I wanted.

An ice-cold fruity smoothie.

The smoothie recipe:

  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • handful frozen mangoes
  • handful frozen strawberries
  • handful frozen peaches

It was exactly what I needed to cool off!

Eventually it was necessary for me to go to the grocery store, so I did that and came back to brave a walk in the heat with Mav.  He had been inside all day (minus just going out to pee) and despite the heat, I wanted him to walk around a bit.  So we took a 30 minute walk and we were both relieved when we arrived back in the air conditioning.

After a shower, it was time for dinner.

I have an 11 mile run on the schedule for tomorrow…so what better to fuel for the run than with pizza?!

Amy’s Organic Pesto Pizza.

Tomorrow I plan to be up pretty early to get in my 11 miles before it gets unbearably hot again.  And then…I have an appointment to finally get another DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE!!! I can’t wait.  My body has reached that point where nothing makes it feel relaxed and the aches are pretty constant, especially in my calves and hips.  So…it’s time.  And that is why I am so excited for tomorrow.  I know that deep tissue massages can be uncomfortable and even painful at times, but I so need it. My muscles are begging me.  So I oblige.

Hoping to get to bed kinda early tonight so I am able to wake up early for my run.

See ya tomorrow!
