Bess Be Fit

A former collegiate athlete's journey of trying to stay and get as fit as possible in life after soccer!

Morning 10K

I am proud of myself.  I woke up extra early and got a run in before another long day at work.  My alarm went off at 5:30 and I was out the door around 6 or so.  I did a nice little 10k (6.2 miles) and was surprised at how many people were out and about that early!! School is definitely back in session. I always really miss being at Wake Forest at the beginning of a new school year.  Fall is coming fast and I couldn’t be happier about it.

My run was okay, definitely not the fastest 6.2 miles I’ve ever done but I feel like with all the sitting I’ve been doing at my desk lately that I’m just proud of my legs for getting through it.  Now I don’t have to worry about fitting in my exercise today because I already did it.  That’s a great feeling!

I’ve been worried that my marathon training and my endurance has been suffering because of lack of time to run how I’d like to, but I will stay optimistic that each day and week will be better than the last and I won’t lose too much running shape.

Another busy day ahead.  Have a great one!

Half-Marathon as a Training Run

13.1 happened today.

I had great weather for a lovely run.

I felt really good during the run.  I think knocking down my midweek run mileage a bit really helped.  I was able to maintain right around a 9 minute mile the whole time, which felt strong to me.  I can usually do that pace for a part of a run but don’t always consistently stay there, sometimes I go slower, so I was happy with my pace being anywhere between 8:30 and 9:15 when I looked at my watch.  The slowest mile that I saw I clocked was 9:08.

Now I’ve foam rolled, showered, and rehydrated…now I’m going to lay here for awhile and rest while I decide what I want to eat.  It always takes me a bit to get hungry, so I think laying on my bed is the perfect place to contemplate 🙂

Going out in the city tonight, pretty excited about that!  I may need a power nap!

Have a great Saturday!
